KSA Amends Law to Able Crown Prince Grant Citizenship to Selected People

RIYADH: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has passed a law which would allow Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to grant citizenship to a selected people, following a proposal by the country’s interior minister.

 

In January this year, a royal decree was issued to approve the amendment in Article-8 of the Saudi Nationality Law, which authorises the premier to grant citizenship.

 

The decree turned into law on March 13, 2023 according to a post by the Makkah Al Mukarramah region’s official Twitter handle, which quoted the Interior Ministry.

 

Article-8 of KSA Nationality Law

 

“After reviewing royal decree, Article Eight of the Saudi Nationality Law would be amended and the Saudi nationality may be granted by order of the prime minister based on a proposal from the interior minister.

 

Under the new rules, the prime minister would be able to grant citizenship to foreign nationals.
