PESHAWAR: Qasim Ali Shah, the newly appointed Minister for Health in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, presided over his first official meeting at the departmental office on Monday.
Welcomed by the Secretary and heads of various programs, Minister Shah commenced his tenure with an introductory session, fostering collaboration and communication among the departmental staff.
Secretary Health Mehmood Aslam Wazir delivered a comprehensive overview of the health department, highlighting ongoing development projects and providing insights into the current state of affairs. Detailed discussions ensued regarding key initiatives such as the health card program and the management of Medical Teaching Institutions (MTIs) and other independent healthcare facilities.
During the meeting, it was revealed that the health department’s budget has surpassed Rs 207 billion, with significant allocations directed towards electricity and development projects amounting to over Rs 88 billion. Minister Shah expressed keen interest in understanding the intricacies of the Health Card Plus program, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in healthcare services delivery.
