KPK Caretaker CM Azam Khan Dies After Brief Illness

PESHAWAR: Caretaker Chief Minister (CM) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan died at a local hospital on Saturday morning.

A day earlier, he was admitted to an intensive care unit of a Peshawar hospital after he fell unwell.

Azam Khan, a Pakistani former civil servant has been serving as the caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa since 21 January 2023. He was born in a village named Parrang in Charsadda district in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

He had a law graduate from the University of Peshawar. In addition, Muhammad Azam Khan had passed Bar-at-Law from Lincoln’s Inn College London. He joined District Management Group (DMG) after passing Civil Service Examination and retired as Chief Secretary, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Azam was the real brother of former Inspector General Police (IGP), ex-caretaker Provincial Minister Abbas Khan, and cousin of Chairman Qoumi Watan Party Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao. Khan was the son-in-law of PML(N) former MPA Attock (Shadi Khan) Taj Mohammad Khanzada (Late), uncle of PML(N) ex-Provincial Interior Minister Punjab Col (R) Shujah Khanzada (Late). He was also brother-in-law of ex-Commissioner Khalid Khan who is real brother of Inspector General Police Zufarullah Khan.

His funeral prayer will be offered at Charsadda today.
