MIRPUR: Kashmir Peace Institute (KPI) Secretary General Hameed Shaheen Alvi on Thursday called upon UN chief Antonio Guterres to set up a United Nations Recommendations Implementation Commission (UNRIC) for enforcement of recommendations of the UN Security Council for the peaceful settlement of all international disputes including Kashmir and Palestine.
He said that these recommendations stand pended for past seventy-six years despite UNSC’s clear road map accepted by the involved parties. The non-implementation resulted in periodic horrendous human blood, displacements and homes ousters by the affected millions.
UN road maps not implemeted for Kashmir, Pakestine
Shaheen Alvi recalled that the UNSC’s resolutions on Kashmir dispute call for holding a UN supervised plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir; similarly, a two-state solution to Palestine dispute stands recommended by the Security Council, but in both cases, the UN road maps have not been implemented even after lapse of 76 long years.
He added that the non-implementation is causing deluges of human blood periodically both in Palestine and Kashmir.
