KP Sees Tourism Surged During Eid

PESHAWAR:  During the recent Eidul Azha holidays, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has experienced a significant influx of tourists, with more than 400,000 visitors exploring its scenic destinations from June 17 to 19, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority said.

The officials said that a large number of foreign tourists also visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to explore the natural beaty of the area. It added that more than 160 foreign tourists have explored the rich culture and beauty of Northwest Pakistan.

Naran Kaghan was the most popular spot, attracting over 174,000 tourists. It’s picturesque valleys and serene landscapes continue to charm tourists seeking an escape from busy life. In Galiyat, more than 162,000 tourists enjoyed picnic sites, highlighting the region’s rich heritage. Malam Jabba in Swat has welcomed more than 46,000 visitors, while Upper Dir saw around 23,000 tourists exploring its natural beauty.

The increase in tourist numbers underlines Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s growing appeal as a top destination for local travelers, offering a blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, as well as adventure opportunities.

The officials said that from June 29 to July 1 during last year, a total of 189,332 tourists including six foreigners had visited the province.

A spokesperson of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority said that they are providing facilities to attract more and more tourists to the province. It added that complaint cell and helpline have been set up to immediately take action over complaints. It said that the Tourist Facilitation Center and the Tourism Police have also been set up in the province. It said that the confidence of the tourists has been restored and this year a large number of tourists visited the province. The spokesperson of said that government rest houses are now available for accommodation in all spots, which has led to an increase in tourism in the province.

However, many tourists expressed displeasure over traffic jams during Eidul Azha holidays in the tourists spots and asked the government to provide more and more facilities to the tourists.
