KP Police Chief Recommends Martyred Officer for Civil Award ‘Sitara Shujaat’

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Chief Akhtar Hayat Khan wrote a letter to the Chief Minister on Tuesday, recommending the name of martyred SP Ijaz Khan for the Pakistan Civil Award “Sitara Shujaat”.

The SP Ijaz Khan embraced martyrdom during an operation against terrorists last month in the Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In the anti-terror operation, two wanted terrorists were also killed.

Pakistan’s senior military officer, on the instruction of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, visited the families of martyred cop and paid tribute to his sacrifices rendered in the line of duty, the military said in a statement on Thursday. 

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Major General Noor Wali Khan, Inspector General Frontier Corps, visited the residence of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police martyred SP (Superintendent of Police) Ijaz Khan, who was martyred in a gun battle with terrorists in the Katlang area of Mardan district. The IG FC visited the home of the martyr to pay homage to his sacrifice and offered Fateha on behalf of the Pak Army.

The ISPR said that the Pakistan Army will provide free education to the children of the martyred police officer at Army Public School (APS). In addition, the IG FC presented a check of fifty lakh rupees to the family of the martyred officer on behalf of the Pakistan Army. 

An official accommodation was allotted to the wife of a martyred official besides a government job.

The CPO said that the family of the martyr SP entitled to shaheed package, full salary and other privileges. KP police chief gave Rs 2.5 million.
