BAJAUR, Pakistan: In a bizarre case, a man from Bajaur was detained in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) for propagating false “love affair” rumours on social media.

Details reveal that a local man named Muhammad Gulab posted a fictitious image online, stating that a British woman named Ela had traveled to the remote Salarzai region of Bajaur, KP, to meet her alleged lover.

Muhammad Gulab was arrested for spreading a fraudulent image on social media that claimed his friend had wed a British woman after beginning an affair on Facebook.

The police department was alarmed by reports of a foreign girl being in the remote tehsil of Bajaur, which led them to dispatch a group of officers to protect the woman.

After learning of the presence of the British girl in the area, a police party went to the home of Muhammad Ishaq, where it was discovered that the news had been made up by Ishaq’s friend Muhammad Ghulam, who was operating his Facebook account under the name “Gulab Jaman.”

On suspicion of disseminating untrue information on social media, the individual was subsequently arrested by the police. On the other hand, the locals have started a campaign to get Muhammad Gulab released.
