KP: Intermittent Rainfall to Continue till 28th

PESHAWAR: The Met Office said on Monday that the intermittent spell of rain will continue in various regions of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province till 28 of this month.

It said that widespread scattered wind, rain with thunderstorms, and isolated heavy falls would likely occur over most areas of the KP during the next two days.

Heavy rain may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas in Charsadda, DI Khan, Bannu, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, and Nowshera.  It warned that it may trigger landslides in the vulnerable Dir, Shangla, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Battagram, Torghar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Khyber, and Kurram districts.

Heavy rains may also cause flash flooding in Torghar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Swat, Chitral, Dir, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Khyber, and Kurram districts, the Meteorological Department noted.

During the previous 24 hours, the highest rainfall was reported at 65mm in Timergara, 38 in Pattan, 37 in Balakot, 64 in Malamjabba, 61 in Kakul,16 in Saidu Sharif, two in Mirkhani, nine in Dir, and three in Bannu.

The PDMA said 11 houses were partially damaged due to heavy rains, with two in Bajaur, three in Shangla, Buner, and Malakand, and one house entirely collapsed in Swat. —APP
