PESHAWAR: Iranian Consul-General in Peshawar, Ali Banafshekhah paid a visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali at the Governor House on Tuesday.
During the meeting, they explored avenues for further enhancing bilateral trade relations between the two neighboring countries.
Governor Haji Ghulam Ali extended his congratulations to Ali Banafshekhah on assuming the responsibilities of Consul General of Iran on a permanent basis. He emphasized that Iran was a brotherly neighboring Islamic nation, and the people of both countries shared strong bonds of love and respect.
Pak-Iran Bilateral Trade Enhancement Initiatives
Governor Ali stressed the importance of exchanging delegations in various fields, including trade, journalism, youth, and skilled women. He believed that such exchanges would not only strengthen bilateral relations but also promote a positive image of both countries. Additionally, he emphasized the need to boost both small and large-scale commercial activities between Pakistan and Iran. Governor Ali also proposed the idea of joint ventures in the trade sector involving Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, and Turkey as a positive initiative.
The Iranian Consul General welcomed Governor Ali’s suggestions regarding delegation exchanges, especially in the context of promoting trade activities. He expressed Iran’s willingness to cooperate in all areas, including trade, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Consul General emphasized the significance of the Pak-Iran Gas Line project, stating that its completion would usher in a prosperous era for the region. He highlighted the long-standing cultural and friendly relations between Pakistan and Iran.
Moreover, the Consul General discussed the potential of markets established at the Pak-Iran border to facilitate land route trade between the two nations. He also extended an invitation to Governor Ali to visit Iran and expressed his condolences for the loss of life in the Warsak Road blast, offering prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.
