ISLAMABAD: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Tuesday approved a deduction from the salaries of 3,800 teachers of BPS-17 and above for absence from duty without permission.
The decision was taken in a high-level meeting regarding the monitoring mechanism in the Education Department held with Muatasim Billah, the Secretary Elementary & Secondary Education.
The meeting was convened on the directives of the KP Provincial Minister for Elementary & Secondary Education, Shahram Khan Tarkahi.

During the meeting, it was also decided to hold science exhibitions in the schools after the winter vacations. The monitoring of teachers was included in the agenda list.
A ten-member committee of women officers formed, which will visit girls’ schools in the province and check the cleanliness and laboratory conditions. On finding poor cleanliness conditions and inactive laboratories, the concerned officers would be suspended.
Moreover, the meeting decided to crosscheck the demands of books for the new academic year through the Education Management System. The process would be completed in one or two days and then show-cause notices will be issued to all those principals who have demanded new yearbooks.
The meeting also decided to write letters to all Deputy Commissioners and tell them that the education department has banned readymade practical copies, therefore, they should confiscate all such copies wherever they found them.
