PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has assured the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority of close coordination for the implementation of the National SME Policy 2021 and coordination for small and medium enterprises development in the province.
A spokesperson said on Monday that SMEDA had made great achievements towards the implementation of the National SME Policy 2021 in an effective way despite numerous challenges and constraints.
He said that it had been acknowledged by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government through a letter written by Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry that irrespective of the lack of financial and human resources, the organization had launched many projects such as National Ideas Lab, SME One Window and SME Database Development.
The SMEDA also achieved considerable progress in a number of other sectors in a short span under the leadership of Farhan Aziz Khawaja as the chief executive officer.
Funds Allocation for Development Projects
Besides, the allocation of substantial funds for the current projects in PSDP, land acquisition at Industrial Estates in Lahore, and Quetta for the establishment of SME Facilitation Centres, as well as the pursuit of different funding options, speak volumes about the commitment of the SMEDA team.
Moreover, the submission of fifteen projects proposals for the Export Development Fund and twenty-two project proposals for the Pakistan Innovation Fund also demonstrate the organization’s commitment.
The letter hoped that all these initiatives would considerably contribute towards the development of the SME sector in Pakistan.
