KP Authorities Urge Parents to Get Children Vaccinated Against Polio

PESHAWAR: Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Aafaq Wazir, on Friday emphasized the importance of parental cooperation in ensuring that children under five receive the necessary polio vaccinations to protect them from this debilitating disease.

Chairing a review meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the seven-day vaccination campaign will run until November 5 to vaccinate 901,986 children. To achieve this, 2506 vaccination teams have been organized, with appropriate security measures to support their efforts.

He stressed that the polio vaccine is vital for safeguarding the future generation from lifelong disabilities and highlighted the role of parents in this endeavor. The district administration remains unwavering in its commitment to eradicating polio from the provincial capital.

The meeting was attended by various officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Sania Safi, Administrative Officers like Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief) Muhammad Imran Khan, District Health Officer Dr. Muhammad Idris, Coordinator EPI Dr. Mohammad Arif, N-Stop Officer, Deputy District Polio Officer Dr. Saifullah, Communication Officer Faisal Khan, as well as representatives from the Health Department, Police, Education Department, Local Government, and other related departments.

During the meeting, the performance and coverage of the ongoing four-day anti-polio campaign were thoroughly evaluated. —APP
