KMU Decides to Establish a General Teaching Hospital in Peshawar

ISLAMABAD: Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar decided on Wednesday to build a general teaching hospital on its main campus in Hayatabad, Peshawar.

The hospital will initially have 300 beds and offer clinical research and research facilities in all fields, such as emergency, radiology, and pathology.

This decision was made at the 14th meeting of department heads, which was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Zia ul Haq. Along with Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapur, the meeting included deans and heads of various institutes/departments.

During the meeting, previous decisions were thoroughly reviewed, and satisfaction with their progress was expressed.

KMU’ Teaching hospital to have all facilities

VC Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq states that the proposed University General Hospital will have all modern medical facilities. He said it would be a modern and model teaching hospital that would provide clinical training to thousands of KMU students from various fields and diagnostic and treatment services to the people of the province and the neighbouring country of Afghanistan. He also mentioned that all facilities would be available at reduced rates. He explained that the hospital would be run by an independent professional management board, with the University Syndicate overseeing overall operations.

A high-level committee was also formed during the meeting to prepare the working paper for the proposed hospital as soon as possible. At the same time, it was also directed to obtain the necessary approval from the HEC.

A demonstration of the fully digitalized examination system was presented, and it was agreed to take all necessary steps to make all levels of examinations digital as soon as possible. Important and urgent decisions were made following separate discussions on the problems and issues of various institutes in the meeting and strict implementation of the discipline code for faculty and students.
