GENEVA: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) denounced all violations committed against Palestinians, with the killing of tens of thousands of civilians, predominantly children and women, in the Gaza Strip, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The SPA reported that head of the Human Rights Section at the Saudi Arabia Mission to the United Nations in Geneva Asya Baakdah has delivered the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s statement during a meeting of the UN Human Rights Council, reiterating the Kingdom’s firm rejection of the tragic situation and stressing the urgent need to put an end to it.
Baakdah has highlighted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) hosting of the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit, where resolutions were adopted representing the unified will of Arab and Islamic countries. She has underscored the summit’s plea for a cessation of bloodshed, unfettered access to humanitarian help, and the fulfillment of the legitimate aspirations of Palestinians to reclaim their occupied territories and establish their independent state, the SPA reported.
The diplomat also noted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) applause of the United Nations General Assembly’s (UNGA) resolution on May 10, 2024, backing the eligibility of the Palestinian state for full membership in the UN.

Furthermore, Baakdah has emphasized the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) appreciation for the affirmative actions taken by Norway, Ireland, Spain, Armenia and Slovenia in acknowledging the Palestinian state, while urging other countries to follow suit with bilateral recognition, the SPA maintained.
Recognizing the collective duty to actively support the realization of an independent Palestinian state, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in collaboration with its partners in the Ministerial Committee appointed by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Gaza developments, as well as Norway and the European Union (EU) — initiated an international alliance to push for the implementation of a two-state solution. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) calls upon all parties to join this initiative.
