RIYADH: King Salman of Saudi Arabia has issued a directive to host 2,000 family members of Yemeni forces who were killed in action during Operation Decisive Storm for Hajj, according to a report by Saudi state TV al-Ekhbariya on Sunday.

Operation Decisive Storm was launched in 2015 in response to a request from Yemen’s legitimate government. Its objective was to restore the political process in Yemen, provide humanitarian aid, and combat terrorism in the country.

The new directive by King Salman demonstrates the kingdom’s commitment to supporting the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the operation. By hosting these family members for Hajj, Saudi Arabia aims to honor their loved ones and provide them with a meaningful pilgrimage experience.

Saudi Arabia Hosting Hajj Pilgrims

This initiative builds upon a previous directive issued by the Saudi ruler, in which it was stated that Saudi Arabia would host 1,300 pilgrims from over 90 countries as part of the “Guests of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Program” for this year’s Hajj.

The Guests of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Program aims to facilitate the pilgrimage of individuals from around the world who may face challenges in performing Hajj. It reflects the kingdom’s commitment to promoting inclusivity, unity, and the spirit of Islamic solidarity during the annual pilgrimage.

By extending the invitation to the family members of fallen Yemeni forces, King Salman emphasizes the bonds of brotherhood between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, as well as the kingdom’s support for the Yemeni people.
