ISLAMABAD: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) has distributed 25,000 winter kits among flood-affected people in different districts of Pakistan, aiming to help the affected people struggling with harsh winter, reported by the Saudi aid agency on Wednesday,
The devastating monsoon rains and floods hit most parts of the country this year, resulting in at least 1,725 people dead while affecting more than 33 million and costing Pakistan over $30 billion in economic losses.
Keeping in view the magnitude of the losses, thousands of Pakistanis are still awaiting the assistance of food, shelter, and other requirements in affected areas as the winter season has begun in most parts of the country.
Distribution by King Salman Relief
To reach out to the affected people, King Salman Relief distributed 50,000 polyester quilts and 25,000 winter packages in different districts, including Ganche, Skardu, Nagar, Astor, Ghizer, Chitral, Swat, Upper Dir, Mansehra (northern parts), Dera Ismail Khan, Dadu, Jamshoro, Badin & Qamber Shahdakot districts.
The packages, which were distributed in support of Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), comprised shawls and warm clothes for men, women, and children.
According to KSRelief, the aid would cover more than 175,000 people in these districts.
Having one of the largest humanitarian aid budgets in the world, KSRelief has been delivering in 44 countries.
