RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: The King Salman Competition for Memorizing the Holy Qur’an and the Prophetic Sunnah concluded in Mauritania, with 136 participants from 16 West African nations.
The event, organized in Nouakchott, was attended by prominent figures such as Saudi Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Raqabi and Mauritania’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Ahmed Ould Murabit.
According to SPA, Saudi Islamic Minister Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Asheikh extended his gratitude to Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani for hosting the competition.
Officials, including Mauritanian Islamic Affairs Minister Sidi Yahya Cheikhna Lemrabott, praised Saudi Arabia’s efforts in promoting Islamic values. The competition plays a key role in fostering moderate Islamic teachings and countering extremism, emphasizing the importance of Qur’an and Sunnah memorization in nurturing Islamic values across the region.
