RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Jordan’s King and the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, on Sunday visited Global Industrial and Defence Solutions (GIDS), Pakistan’s largest defence manufacturer, where he received a comprehensive briefing on the company’s structure, capabilities, and product portfolio.
The briefing highlighted Pakistan’s progress in indigenous defence production, technological innovation, and potential avenues for bilateral defence cooperation with Jordan, the Pakistan military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated in a press release.

During the visit, King Abdullah II was accompanied by Princess Salma bint Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and a delegation of Jordanian civil and military officials.
Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir along with other senior Pakistani officials, received the royal guests at the GIDS, Pakistan military’s media wing stated.
During the visit, King Abdullah II was given a comprehensive briefing on the structure, capabilities, and product portfolio of GIDS, the military media wing stated.
The briefing showcased Pakistan’s progress in indigenous defence production, technological innovation, and potential avenues for bilateral defence cooperation between Pakistan and Jordan.
Later, King Abdullah II visited the Tilla Field Firing Ranges. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also graced the occasion.
Azerbaijan’s Defence Minister Mr Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev was also amongst the distinguished guests at the Firing Ranges.
King Abdullah II and distinguished guests witnessed a joint fire and manoeuvre exercise, ISPR stated.

The exercise demonstrated multi-domain operations, including conventional and air firepower, coordinated manoeuvres, and spectrum warfare capabilities supported by multi-purpose drones employed in various configurations and roles.
King Abdullah II appreciated the high standards of training, professionalism, and operational capabilities and preparedness demonstrated by the participating troops and aircrews.
On the occasion, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s deep respect and affection for King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan, noting that the visit reflects the enduring friendship, mutual trust and a shared desire for peace and development.
During the visit, COAS Field Marshal Munir underscored the strong defence partnership between Pakistan and Jordan.
The Field Marshal reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further enhancing military-to-military cooperation with Jordan and jointly realising the mutual vision of a stable and peaceful region.
Earlier King Abdullah II conferred upon the COAS Munir the Order of the Military Merit of First Degree, in recognition of his outstanding service and significant contributions to strengthening military cooperation between Jordan and Pakistan.

King Abdullah II is on a two-day visit to Pakistan which marks a significant milestone in reinforcing the historic bonds of fraternity and brotherhood between Pakistan and Jordan.
Earlier, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari conferred the country’s highest civilian honour on Jordan’s King Abdullah II in recognition of his contributions to regional and global peace.
On Saturday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Jordan’s King Abdullah II reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing strategic and economic ties between Pakistan and Jordan, as well as expanding mutually beneficial collaboration at regional and international forums.
During their meeting at the Prime Minister’s House here, they discussed measures to further deepen bilateral relations as well as exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation in the economic, trade, investment, health, science and technology, education, and defence sectors.

Pakistan and Jordan established formal diplomatic relations shortly after the independence of Pakistan.
The relationship has been characterised by regular political dialogue and strong defence cooperation.
Jordanian officers have long trained at Pakistan’s military institutions, while both countries have coordinated closely on Middle Eastern peace efforts, especially concerning the Palestinian cause.
King Abdullah II has been an influential voice on Jerusalem’s custodianship and regional stability, while Pakistan has consistently supported Jordan’s role in safeguarding Islamic holy sites and advocating Palestinian rights.

The two nations have also cooperated during major crises — including refugee relief in the Middle East and Pakistan’s humanitarian contributions during regional emergencies.
In recent years, both states have sought to expand their cooperation beyond security, focusing more on economic engagement, tourism, cultural diplomacy, and educational exchange.
