Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to Meet for Inaugural Session Tomorrow

PESHAWAR: The first session of the newly elected 12th Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly will be held on Wednesday, February 28th, at 11 a.m. in the Assembly Hall.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has summoned the assembly meeting in accordance with Article 109 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

During the session, newly elected members will be sworn in, and the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Leader of the House, and Opposition Leader will be elected. A pro-tem speaker will administer the oath to the 113 MPAs elected on general seats and seven appointed on reserved seats.

Invitations have been issued to guests to witness the oath-taking ceremony, while a limited number of media passes have been distributed.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has 30 reserved seats that include 26 women seats and four minorities seats.

The Election Commission has notified five out of 26 women seats while issuance of notifications for 21 reserved women and four minorities are pending.

In the 2024 general elections, PTI-backed candidates had won 86 seats, JUI-F, 7, PPP, 4, PMLN-5, and 7 independent seats.
