ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that the coalition government considered the results of by-elections in the country as “victory”.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, he said, “We have won Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) two seats in the by-elections. It is our victory”.
He said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan himself, contested the election on eight seats. Where he did not contest the election, the party lost.
Responding to a question, the federal minister said that the arrival of the former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif is significant for Pakistan as he is only the man who can rescue the country in the present situation.
The minister further said there was no question of early elections in the country and the next general election would be held per schedule.
