KARACHI: Renowned writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar has claimed that his kidnappers mentioned the names of actors Saba Qamar and Noman Ijaz during his abduction.
In a recent podcast interview, the screenwriter shared his experience, stating that he initially hesitated to file an FIR because the kidnappers had mentioned the names of Noman Ijaz and Saba Qamar.
“I hate Noman Ijaz, but I acknowledge he is a very good actor. Although I have differences with Saba Qamar, I admire her acting. These are not the kind of people who would do such illegal things,” Qamar said, suggesting that the kidnappers sought to confuse him.
Khalilur Rehman Qamar expressed surprise at the support he received from his Indian fans during the traumatic ordeal, contrasting it with the hostility and mockery he encountered in Pakistan. “I was unaware of the kidnappers’ motives. I was only worried about my wife and daughters. When they subjected me to torture, I told them to kill me if they wanted,” he revealed.
He shared that his wife now wishes to leave Pakistan due to the trauma caused by the incident, but he is still attached to his homeland and has no plans to leave Pakistan. The incident occurred last week in Lahore. Police said that a woman phoned Qamar and invited him to her house under the pretext of discussing a drama project. When he reached, armed men abducted him and also looted him.
Qamar reportedly paid a significant amount to the kidnappers, who then released him. The Sundar police station in Lahore has filed a case based on Qamar’s report. The first information report (FIR) details that the suspects tortured the writer and took him to several locations.
