ASTANA: Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has visited the Footlab football center as part of his working tour to Almaty city, local media reported on Thursday.
During the trip to Footlab football center, he was briefed on its activity. Presently the center functions in a pilot mode with 8 certified coaches training around 50 young football players so far. The idea, according to founder of Smart Football LLP Murat Medeuov, is to train 1,000 children aged 5-12.
Footlab is an interactive indoor football performance and also training park for both children and adults. Portugal’s Footlab franchise is head office in Lisbon and founded by Portuguese football stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Rui Costa. Footlab Almaty was the 3rd center unveiled following the Lisbon and Dubai ones. Private investments into the project have more than 1.5 billion tenge.
Apart from training purposes, the center will also serve as a venue for football tournaments among Almaty schoolchildren and help promote healthy sport and lifestyle. President Tokayev has expressed his full support of the idea of building the analogous football center in the city of Astana.
