Kazakhstan Plans to Build Over 7,000 5G Base Stations by Next Year

ASTANA: During a meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Almaty, Kazakhtelecom Chair Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev revealed plans to erect over 7,000 base stations as part of an initiative to expedite the deployment of the 5G network by 2025’s end. This response aligns with President Tokayev’s directive to accelerate technological advancement, as reported by the Akorda press service.

As the premier provider of digital services in Kazakhstan, Kazakhtelecom takes pride in being the inaugural entity within the Commonwealth of Independent States to operationalize 5G technology commercially, according to Yessekeyev.

Additionally, Yessekeyev updated the President on the progress of constructing the Trans-Caspian fiber-optic communication line, spanning the Caspian Sea bed and connecting Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan. This undertaking is poised to bolster international traffic transit through Kazakhstan, positioning the nation as a pivotal telecommunications hub in the region.

President Tokayev highlighted the significance of digitalization across economic and social realms, emphasizing that the competitive edge of the country on the global stage is increasingly influenced by advancements in telecommunication technologies.
