ASTANA: Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation on Monday to discuss the current state and future prospects of Kazakhstan-Russia cooperation Kazinform News Agency reported citing the Akorda press service.
During the talks, both leaders emphasized the importance of fully implementing previously reached agreements, particularly in the trade-economic and energy sectors. These areas of cooperation have been central to the bilateral relationship between the two neighboring countries, and the presidents reaffirmed their commitment to advancing these initiatives.
The discussion also touched on preparations for Vladimir Putin’s upcoming visit to Astana, underscoring the significance of high-level exchanges in strengthening the ties between Kazakhstan and Russia.
Furthermore, the presidents exchanged views on pressing international matters. Although specific topics were not disclosed, the conversation reflected the shared interest of both nations in addressing global challenges and maintaining stability in the region.
President Tokayev also expressed his gratitude to President Putin for the invitation to participate in the upcoming BRICS Summit in Kazan.
