London: King Charles’ coronation ceremony is set to take place at Windsor Castle on May 7, and the organisers have announced an eclectic lineup, including music legends Lionel Richie and Katy Perry, as well as British pop group, Take That.
The concert, which will be broadcast on television and radio, aims to celebrate a new chapter in Britain’s history, with Charles being formally crowned the day before at Westminster Abbey.
The lineup for the concert also includes singer-songwriter Freya Ridings, Italian opera star Andrea Bocelli, classical-soul composer Alexis Ffrench, and Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel.
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) will produce and broadcast the showcase, with “The Coronation Choir” and “The Virtual Choir” making an appearance.
“The Coronation Choir” is a group formed from community choirs and singers from across Britain, while “The Virtual Choir” is made up of singers from across the Commonwealth.

The concert’s centrepiece will feature iconic locations across the United Kingdom being lit up using projections, lasers, drone displays and illuminations. The event will include a broad mix of music spanning pop to classical, along with dance performances reflecting culture and arts from around the United Kingdom (UK) and the wider Commonwealth.
US music star Richie expressed his excitement at sharing the stage with the other top performers at the Coronation Concert, calling it a once-in-a-lifetime event and an honour and celebration.
The lineup was announced by the BBC, who said that the concert would be a chance to celebrate Charles’ coronation and a new era for Britain.
The concert is expected to be attended by special guests and 20,000 members of the public. The performance will be a fitting celebration of the start of King Charles’ reign, with some of the biggest names in music coming together for a night of entertainment and celebration.
