PARIS: Pop star Katy Perry and former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau were pictured together in Paris on Saturday night, appearing to confirm a romantic relationship that first surfaced in July, footage and media reports showed.
Footage obtained by TMZ showed the pair leaving the famous Crazy Horse cabaret in Paris hand in hand after a performance on Saturday, which also marked Perry’s 41st birthday.
In the video, a fan can be seen handing Perry a single red rose as paparazzi called out “Happy Birthday.” Perry wore a red dress and Trudeau a dark suit, the footage showed.
TMZ and other outlets reported that the couple then left the venue together and were driven away in a chauffeured car. Representatives for Perry and Trudeau did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Katy Perry, Justin Trudeau romance rumours
The pair first fuelled dating rumours in July after being seen together at a dinner in Montreal, Canadian media reported.
Trudeau was later photographed in the crowd at Perry’s concert in Montreal with his teenage daughter, outlets said.
Earlier this month, several media organisations published photos and video reportedly showing the pair kissing and embracing on Perry’s yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara, California.
Those images and the TMZ footage together mark the most public confirmation yet of a relationship first reported in summer.
Reactions in media reports
Us Weekly, citing unnamed insiders, reported that Perry is “really into it” and described the relationship as “low-key,” saying she and Trudeau had spent “a lot of private time together.”
Page Six quoted sources who called the liaison a “midlife crisis,” characterising that as social-media and tabloid reaction rather than an official comment.
Perry announced her split from actor Orlando Bloom in a joint statement published in early July, saying the pair had been “shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.”
Perry and Bloom share a daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, born in 2020. Trudeau separated from his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in August 2023; he stepped down as Canada’s prime minister earlier this year after a decade in office and is no longer in public office.
Both Perry and Trudeau remain high-profile public figures — Perry as an international pop star and Trudeau as a former head of government — and their appearances together are likely to draw sustained media attention.
