ISLAMABAD: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC), in Pakistan, and across the globe will observe Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir on August 5th. This day is marked to protest against the Indian government’s controversial actions on this day in 2019.

According to Kashmir Media Service, on August 5th, 2019, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Indian government, in violation of United Nations resolutions and international law, revoked Article 370 of the Indian Constitution. This article had granted special autonomy to the region of Jammu and Kashmir. Following this decision, an unprecedented military siege was imposed on the territory, leading to widespread condemnation and unrest.
