ISLAMABAD: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LOC) and across the world are observing the Right to Self-Determination Day today.

This observance reaffirms their commitment to continuing the freedom struggle until they achieve their right to self-determination.

The United Nations resolution of January 5, 1949, recognized the Kashmiris’ right to decide their future through a UN-sponsored plebiscite. Despite various activities such as rallies, seminars, and conferences marking this day globally, the UN has yet to implement its resolutions, leading to ongoing sufferings for the Kashmiri people.

Posters in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir call for UN action on the Kashmir dispute, emphasizing India’s denial of the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

The posters feature images of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders, highlighting the need for the UN to address Indian state terrorism in the region.
