ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and around the globe are marking “Black Day” today, reaffirming their opposition to India’s control of Jammu and Kashmir.

This annual observance on October 27 commemorates the 1947 invasion when Indian troops entered the region in defiance of the Partition Plan, disregarding the Kashmiri people’s aspirations for self-determination.

In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), a complete shutdown has been organized, symbolizing collective resistance against Indian rule. Across Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), protest marches, rallies, and seminars are taking place, emphasizing solidarity with Kashmiris and condemning India’s actions.

The AJK capital, Muzaffarabad, will witness a demonstration arranged by the Kashmir Liberation Commission, followed by a large rally. Pasban-e-Hurriyat and other Hurriyat organizations have organized anti-India rallies and public gatherings in AJK’s districts and tehsils.

AJK President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry and Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq have called upon Kashmiris worldwide to observe the day and register their protest, highlighting both the 1947 invasion and the recent revocation of IIOJK’s special status by India’s government.

These events serve to amplify Kashmiris’ ongoing demands for international support and a resolution of their struggle for freedom and self-governance.
