SRINAGAR: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and around the world are preparing to observe Indian Independence Day as a Black Day, symbolizing their unwavering protest against India’s unlawful and forceful occupation of their homeland.

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the day will witness a comprehensive shutdown as called for by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and endorsed by various Hurriyat leaders and organizations. The region will be enveloped in black flags, while protest rallies are set to be organized to condemn the severe human rights violations perpetrated by Indian forces.

Kashmiris to Stage Anti-India Rallies

Across the globe, Kashmiris will stage anti-India demonstrations to draw international attention towards the grave human rights abuses being committed in the occupied territory. The Kashmir Valley, particularly Srinagar, has been transformed into a heavily fortified military zone by the occupation authorities. Stringent security measures, including ground and aerial surveillance, have been implemented, while the Bakhshi Stadium in Srinagar, where the official function is to be held, has witnessed the deployment of paramilitary troops, bunkers, and barricades.

Pakistan’s Independence Day Celebrated in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir

Despite restrictions, the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir celebrated Pakistan’s Independence Day with fervor and devotion. Amid small gatherings, youth chanted pro-Pakistan slogans and even displayed Pakistani flags on their houses. The stroke of midnight saw firecrackers illuminating the sky as Kashmiris joyfully marked Pakistan’s Independence Day.

Farooq Abdullah, the President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, highlighted the public’s growing resentment towards the Bharatiya Janata Party due to its policies that adversely affect the poor and middle class. He also criticized the imposition of what he termed “tax terrorism” on the Kashmiri populace.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference-Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) marked Pakistan’s Independence Day by organizing an event at its Islamabad office. Attendees cut a cake and offered special prayers for the prosperity of Pakistan and the early liberation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Rallies celebrating Pakistan’s Independence Day were held in various parts of Azad Kashmir, including Muzaffarabad and Jhelum Valley. Participants enthusiastically chanted slogans expressing their deep connection with Pakistan and their longing for a free and united Kashmir.
