ISLAMABAD: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control LoC) as well as across the globe are commemorating the ‘Accession to Pakistan Day’ today, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to persist in the struggle for Jammu and Kashmir’s emancipation from Indian occupation and its complete integration with Pakistan.

This significant occasion harkens back to the fateful day of 1947 when the authentic representatives of the Kashmiri people, convened at the residence of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan in Srinagar, unanimously adopted the resolution endorsing Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan. The resolution, imbued with historical importance, asserted the necessity of aligning the state of Jammu and Kashmir with Pakistan based on religious, geographical, cultural, and economic affinities, as well as the aspirations harboured by the millions of Kashmiri Muslims, according to state media.

In the meantime, deeming the 19th of July a watershed moment in Kashmir’s annals, the Kashmiri leadership has emphatically restated their unwavering determination to carry the torch of the freedom struggle, drawing inspiration from the momentous resolution passed during the aforementioned gathering of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference in Srinagar on this very day in 1947.
