Kashmiris Mark India’s Independence Day as Black Day With Mass Protests

SRINAGAR: Kashmiris residing in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and the Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) observed India’s Independence Day as a black day with massive protest rallies to denounce India’s prolonged and unlawful control over a significant portion of Jammu and Kashmir State.

As per details, a protest rally took place in the Mirpur district to commemorate this black day. A resolution was unanimously passed during the rally, cautioning India against any aggressive actions towards Pakistan or Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The rally asserted that every person of AJK was ready to defend their homeland alongside the brave armed forces of Pakistan, If India made any attempt against AJK and Pakistan.

The rally expressed gratitude and paid tribute to the people of Pakistan for their unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination.

Kashmiris Denounce Indian Occupation

Other areas of the liberated territory, including Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Kotli, Bhimbher, Rawalakot, Bagh, Palandri, Neelam Valley, Jhelum Valley, Havaili, and other areas have also conducted anti-India protest rallies on its Independence Day. Participants from diverse sectors of civil society, including social, political, and public representative organizations, attended these rallies while displaying black flags and wearing black bands to symbolize Indian Independence Day as a day of mourning.

The people of Azad and Jammu Kashmir expressed deep concern over the deteriorating conditions in the strife-ridden and heavily curfewed Indian-controlled Jammu and Kashmir over the past ten days. It accused India of converting the occupied J&K region into the world’s largest prison and military outpost.

Through another resolution, the rally called on the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take notice to reinstate the special status of the disputed Jammu & Kashmir state. This move was urged as a step towards an early and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions.

The rally participants also urged international bodies like Amnesty International, the Red Cross, and Human Rights Watch to ensure the delivery of essential supplies such as food and medicines to the confined population in curfew-bound areas.

In yet another resolution, the rally warned the global community about India’s potential to commit a significant act of state terrorism by targeting the freedom-seeking population of the Muslim-majority-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The rally urged influential nations like the United States and the United Nations to prevent Indian Prime Minister Modi from state terrorism.
