MIRPUR: Former Prime Minister of Azad and Jammu Kashmir Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan strongly denounced the Indian government’s ban on the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP), led by renowned Kashmiri rights leader Shabbir Ahmed Shah.
Khan, who is also President of the Muslim Conference, warned that this act of suppression could not silence the voice of freedom for the people of Kashmir.
Kashmiris in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir state are not Indian nationals or citizens, as stated in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir. India’s presence in IHK is that of an oppressive colonizer,” Attique stated in a press release issued on Friday.
He emphasized that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have every right to resist India’s illegal occupation of Kashmir, along with its oppressive laws and actions. The Indian government, realizing that it has no support from Kashmiris, has resorted to banning a political party that advocates for Kashmiri rights.
The former premier pointed out that despite being imprisoned by the Indian government for the past decade, JKDFP leader Shabbir Ahmed Shah’s political influence in occupied Kashmir remains strong. Attique accused the Modi government, affiliated with the RSS, of using various oppressive tactics, not only in occupied Kashmir but also within India itself.
Ban on JKDFP Will Not Quash Kashmiris’ Freedom Struggle
He highlighted that the Modi government is now globally recognized as a severe violator of human rights, even resorting to the killing of its opponents abroad, as seen in the case of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.
Attique also mentioned that India’s history includes the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, further contributing to its reputation as a terrorist state.
In response to the ban on JKDFP, Attique called on his party members, especially those in Europe and North America, to organize peaceful and well-disciplined protests against the ban, emphasizing that it violates human rights and goes against the UN mandate in Kashmir.
