SRINAGAR: A complete shutdown is gripping Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, marking widespread opposition to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the disputed territory.

This call for a strike, issued by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and supported by various Hurriyat leaders and organizations, reflects simmering tensions in the region.

The visit comes amidst ongoing crackdowns and raids by Indian security forces in Srinagar and other districts. Over 700 young people have reportedly been detained without apparent cause, further fueling resentment towards the Indian government. Additionally, authorities have declared Srinagar a “temporary red zone” to restrict the operation of drones and imposed traffic restrictions across the city.

These measures highlight the heightened security concerns surrounding the visit, while the widespread shutdown underscores the depth of opposition to Modi’s presence in the region. The situation in Kashmir remains complex and volatile, and this visit is likely to further exacerbate existing tensions.
