ANKARA: The Pakistan Embassy in Ankara organized a special event to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day, commemorated annually on February 5th to reaffirm support for the legitimate Kashmiri struggle for self-determination.
Distinguished guests at the event included Chairperson of the Human Rights Investigation Commission of the Turkish Parliament, MP Derya Yanik, Deputy Governor Ankara, Bekir Yilmaz, President of the Institute of Strategic Thinking Gen. (R) Guray Alpar, and representatives from media, think tanks, and civil society.
Derya Yanik, while reiterating Turkiye’s support for the Kashmiri cause, emphasized the nation’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in alignment with the desires of the Kashmiri people.
She expressed concern over the dire human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and called on the international community to play a decisive role in ending human rights abuses and implementing UN resolutions for regional peace and stability.
President of the Institute of Strategic Thinking (SDE), Gen. (R) Guray Alpar, voiced surprise at the international community’s indifference to the Kashmir and Palestine issues. He highlighted the deserving right of Kashmiris to self-determination, as promised by the United Nations.

Turkiye’s Principled Stance on Kashmir
Ambassador Dr. Yousaf Junaid, in his address, underscored the persistent situations of foreign occupation in Palestine and Kashmir. He condemned the brutal military occupations that deny people their fundamental right to self-determination, emphasizing the hypocrisy and tyranny faced by Kashmiris at the hands of India, the world’s largest self-proclaimed democracy.
Expressing gratitude for Turkiye’s principled stance on Kashmir, Ambassador Junaid reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering political, moral, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people until the resolution of the dispute in accordance with UNSC resolutions. He specifically thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for highlighting the Kashmir cause on international platforms.
The event served as a poignant reminder of the global call for justice, urging the international community to act decisively in addressing the longstanding conflicts in Kashmir and Palestine.
