LONDON: Chairman of Kashmir Committee Rana Qasim Noon has urged the British government to follow the example of US President Donald Trump and speak publicly about the “atrocities” in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Rana Qasim Noon, leading an all-parties parliamentary delegation to the UK to highlight the Kashmir issue, told a Pakistani private TV channel that Pakistanis, Kashmiris, and people of conscience around the world deeply appreciated President Trump for his brave stance on Kashmir.
“President Trump has accepted that Kashmir is an international issue and not India’s domestic issue. The US president has acknowledged a historic reality, and we are thankful to him for that. We expect the UK leadership to do the same. We appreciate that the UK government has raised concerns about atrocities in the IIOJK, but the UK needs to do a lot more,” he said.
Rana Qasim Noon stated that his delegation — consisting of representatives from all major political parties — briefed UK parliamentarians on the situation in occupied Kashmir, highlighting India’s alleged involvement in large-scale atrocities and the systematic persecution of Kashmiris.
He said during his meeting with Lord Shaffaq Mohammed, a member of the Upper Chamber of the UK Parliament, the House of Lords, he discussed the ongoing issues in South Asia, including the Indus Water treaty that India is threatening to quit while denying Azad Kashmir and Pakistan access to much-needed water.
Earlier this week, Rana Qasim Noon had said that peace in the region is impossible without the settlement of the Kashmir dispute. Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, he said that India has suffered a crushing defeat on military, political, and diplomatic fronts.
Chairman Kashmir Committee said the real face of the BJP is RSS and that Pakistan’s armed forces had thwarted India’s aggression.
He further emphasised that the Kashmir issue was never regional or bilateral and thanked the international community for supporting the ceasefire.
