KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted the likelihood of rain in Karachi during the evening hours today as it updated weather details for the city.

The weather in the port city is expected to remain cloudy over the next 24 hours, with some areas potentially experiencing light showers in the evening.

According to the PMD, Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 27°C, and the maximum temperature is expected to reach 34°C. The humidity level in the air stands at 81%, with winds blowing from the northeast at a speed of 18 kilometers per hour.

Weather analyst Jawad Memon noted that the low-pressure systems of the monsoon have shifted southwestward over the Arabian Sea, causing heavy rainfall to move away from coastal areas. Nevertheless, the effects of the low-pressure system will persist over southern Sindh until tonight.

Memon mentioned that daytime temperatures in Karachi will be warm and humid, with maximum temperatures ranging from 33°C to 35°C. There is a 45-55% chance of light to moderate showers in select areas of the city.

Meanwhile, the upper regions of Pakistan are anticipated to receive more rain and thundershowers from Friday to Sunday. Moist currents from the Arabian Sea are expected to penetrate the northern parts of the country from September 22, leading to rain and thundershowers in various regions, as detailed in the Met Office’s statement.
