Karachi: Three-day Art Film Festival to Open at NAPA from 20th

KARACHI: An exciting art festival will host selection of 28 films, showcasing talents of both domestic and international filmmakers at the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) here from October 20.

The festival will be featuring a diverse collection of short and feature films to captivate audiences, said Juniad Zuberi, NAPA CEO. The Academy has partnered with Gandhara Independent Films for this grand cinematic event.

The programme encompasses a wide array of 28 films from various countries, all thoughtfully curated with English subtitles to ensure accessibility to a global audience. The selection also includes a collection of short films from Pakistan.

Among the festival’s highlights is the screening of the iconic Pakistani feature film ‘Aina,’ which was directed by Nazar ul Islam in 1977. Moreover, ‘Madari,’ a film released just a year ago and featuring NAPA graduates, will also be a highlight of the festival.

The event will also offer a window into the world of music with the documentary ‘Sound of Sufi’ and a production titled ‘Mai Bakhtawar’ by the Sindh Culture Department.

The events will include special sessions as a meet-and-greet with the legendary actress Mumtaz from the past, a panel discussion featuring renowned actress Beo Zafar, and a screening of ‘12 Hours’ by Sahabzade Emeri Ahmed Mirza. The festival will culminate with a Qawwali performance.
