KARACHI: Pakistan stood at 224 for 4 at tea-time on day one of the first Test Match against New Zealand in Karachi.

The hosts earlier won the toss and elected to bat first on Monday at the National Bank Cricket Arena.

Pak vs NZ: Babar’s record-breaking innings

Pakistan captain Babar Azam broke multiple records on day one of the Karachi Test. He became the highest scorer Pakistani in a calendar year, surpassing Mohammad Yousuf’s aggregate of 2435 runs in 2006.

By registering a score of 50+ for the 25th time, he also broke the record for registering the most scores of 50 or more in a single year.

Changes for Pak vs NZ Karachi Test

The home team made three changes from the previous Test series, which they lost to England at the same venue by 3-nil.

Former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed made his first Test appearance since January 2019, while Mir Hamza made his first appearance in four years. Meanwhile, Imam ul Haq, the team’s opening batsman, made a comeback from injury.
