Karachi Expected to Receive Rain Today

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met Office) has issued a weather forecast indicating the possibility of isolated dust-thunderstorms and light rain on the outskirts of Karachi on Monday evening or night.

Additionally, eastern Sindh is expected to experience rain, with some areas potentially receiving heavy downpours.

On the preceding day, the Met Office recorded significant rainfall in various parts of the region. Nangar Parkar, the primary town in Thar district, received the highest amount with 72mm of rainfall. Other areas included Kaloi with 50mm, Badin with 41mm, Diplo with 15mm, Chhore with 12mm, Islamkot with 05mm, and Chhachhro with 02mm of rainfall.

The weather pattern in the region is influenced by moderate-intensity monsoon currents, particularly in eastern Sindh.

As a result of these weather systems, the Met Office anticipates dust-thunderstorms and rain, with isolated instances of heavy precipitation, in several districts of Sindh. The affected areas include Tharparker, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Khairpur, Badin, Sujawal, Thatta, and Jamshoro. These weather conditions are expected from today to September 20, with occasional interruptions.

Additional districts, including Larkana, Dadu, Sukkur, Ghotki, Naushahro Feroz, Shaheed Benazirabad, Matyari, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, and Kambar-Shahdadkot, are also expected to receive rain today and tomorrow, albeit with occasional breaks in precipitation.

In Karachi, the weather forecast indicates the likelihood of dust-thunderstorms and moderate-intensity rain in the evening, with similar conditions expected on September 19th and 20th.
