CHICAGO, USA: Kamala Harris, while accepting the Democratic presidential nomination, made a firm commitment to pursuing a ceasefire in Gaza.

She emphasized that her administration would work towards a resolution that ensures Israel’s security, secures the release of hostages, and addresses the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Harris highlighted the dual challenge of responding to the “unspeakable” violence caused by Hamas’ attack on Israel while also addressing the “heartbreaking” devastation faced by Palestinians in Gaza.

She stressed her dedication to balancing support for Israel with efforts to alleviate the suffering in Gaza and ensure Palestinian rights.

In addition to her focus on Gaza, Harris sharply criticized former President Donald Trump’s foreign policy stance.

She condemned Trump’s frequent praise for authoritarian leaders such as Russia’s Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, arguing that his behavior demonstrates an alarming willingness to be manipulated by autocrats.

Harris vowed that, unlike Trump, she would not “cozy up” to dictators but would instead maintain strong alliances with democratic nations. She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting Ukraine and NATO, contrasting her approach with Trump’s, which she suggested undermines global democratic values and stability.
