PESHAWAR: Adviser to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister for Health Riaz Anwar on Tuesday said that despite financial constraints, the provincial government would continue to provide health facilities under Sehat Card introduced by the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government.
Talking to reporters during the release of a survey report on Sehat Card, the advisor said that payments were being made to the insurance company under the head of different treatments. At the same time, he said an inquiry has also been initiated into alleged corruption in the health department.
Survey Report on Sehat Card
Earlier, a survey report on Sehat Card released by the Agha Khan University Hospital revealed that 63 per cent of people of the province received treatment from private hospitals availing the facility and 37 perc ent of patients got treatment from government hospitals.
The report maintained that 10 per cent of the population of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was still deprived of the facility due to domicile or other technical issues. It said that an average of Rs31,395 expenses incurred on treatment of one patient, which was 20 to 40 per cent higher than the expenses charge by private hospitals.
The survey recommended the participation of the citizens in the policy board of Sehat Card to address technical issues and improve the capacity of hospitals in backward and remote areas.
