ISLAMABAD: Justice Yahya Afridi has taken oath as the 30th Chief Justice of Pakistan today during an oath-taking ceremony at President House in Islamabad.
He was administered the oath of office by Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the three Services Chiefs and judges of the Apex Court attended the oath taking ceremony.
Justice Yahya Afridi was nominated by a Special Parliamentary Committee (SPC), which was constituted under the recently legislated 26th Amendment.
His predecessor Justice Qazi Faez Isa was formally offered a farewell on Friday during a full court reference where senior lawyers also recounted his period’s highlights.
