Jordan’s King Urges Global Peace Efforts and Humanitarian Aid for Gaza

ROME: During a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome on Monday, Jordan’s King Abdullah II emphasized the urgent need for a global push for peace in Gaza. The king called for the international community to take immediate action to facilitate humanitarian deliveries to the Palestinian enclave, which has been sealed off ahead of a potential Israeli ground, sea, and air offensive.

King Abdullah II stressed the importance of opening aid channels to provide essential humanitarian assistance to Gaza. He underscored the crucial role of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees and emphasized the necessity of immediate aid deliveries to address the growing humanitarian crisis in the region.

Additionally, the king urged the international community to condemn the targeting of civilians by Israel and emphasized the importance of every country according to the international law. He cautioned that the conflict in Gaza could spill over to the West Bank and the wider region, urging countries to reject collective punishment of Palestinians.

Jordan’s King Warns of Consequences of Forces Displacement from Gaza

King Abdullah II warned about the potential consequences of forced displacement of Gaza residents, expressing concerns that it could overwhelm neighboring countries, including Jordan and Egypt. He emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution and urged countries to work together to prevent further escalation of the crisis.

During the meeting, discussions were also held regarding the political prospect for a two-state solution. Jordan and Italy reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation in working towards peace in Gaza. The meeting was attended by Jordanian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Safadi, as well as the country’s ambassador to Italy, Qais Abu Dayyeh.
