Jordanian PM, Qatari Minister Discuss Situation in Gaza

AMMAN: Jordan’s Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh has held a meeting with Qatari Minister of State for International Cooperation Lolwah Al-Khater in Amman, local media reported on Tuesday. During the talks, Khasawneh emphasized the longstanding ties between the two nations fostered under their leadership.

They said that the ties between Qatar and Jordan is at its “pinnacle,” with the two nations improving cooperation across several domains. Bisher Al-Khasawneh expressed concern regarding Israeli aggression causing a deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, while commending the level of coordination between Qatar and Jordan to provide sustainable humanitarian help to the Gaza Strip.

He reiterated the shared position of Jordan and Qatar against Israel’s brutal attack on Gaza. Both nations have demanded an urgent cessation of hostilities, the protection of civilian population, the immediate and longstanding delivery of humanitarian help, and the pursuit of a political settlement based on the two-state solution as per international resolutions.

Jordan’s PM said that his country’s humanitarian efforts will continue alongside diplomatic and political efforts to stop the aggression, protect civilian population and ensure the continued delivery of help and aid.

Bisher Al-Khasawneh reiterated Jordan’s rejection of any acts that result in the displacement of Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, which Jordan considers a declaration of war and a serious breach of the Israel- Jordan peace treaty.

The PM praised Qatar’s role in humanitarian ceasefires to ensure help delivery and prisoner exchanges, paving the way for a truce. Al-Khater lauded Jordan’s stance on the Gaza Strip and its efforts to promote a peaceful settlement to the Palestinian cause.

The Minister reiterated Qatar’s solidarity with Jordan in rejecting the forced displacement of Palestinian people, opposing changes to Jerusalem’s legal and historical status, and supporting Palestinian land rights. The minister also appreciated the coordination between Qatar and Jordan in delivering humanitarian help to the Gaza Strip.
