Jordan Takes Down Drug Ring in Capital

ISLAMABAD/DUBAI: Jordanian police busted a drug-supplying ring in the capital Amman, a state news agency PETRA said on Thursday.

Arab News quoted a public security department spokesman as having said that in the raid, 13,000 narcotic pills and 68 packages of cannabis were seized while four persons were arrested.

The spokesman said that during the police raid, one of the suspects opened fire on Amman police, however, the police managed to arrest him with three other people. One other suspect remains at large.

‘’Bring down drug rings”

Three weeks ago, Jordan’s Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister, in the meeting with the Russian President’s Special Envoy on Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, stressed Jordan’s government-focused efforts to prevent smuggling of drugs from Syria into Jordan and to bring down drug rings.
