AMMAN: Jordan’s King Abdullah on Thursday asked UN aid officials and international organization to pile more pressure on Israel to permit more aid and relief into the Gaza Strip where the humanitarian condition is worsening aid workers and officials said.

They said the King told an emergency meeting in Amman of UN officials, chief of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and representatives of Arab donors, it was unacceptable that Israel continued to hold back adequate aid and relief flows.

“The King asked the world aid community to do their bit and save people in the Gaza Strip who have endured a brutal war that has turned their land into an unoccupiable place,” said one delegate on the condition of anonymity.

Jordan Calls on Israel to Permit More Aid into Gaza

A temporary ceasefire between Hamas and Israel built around captive and prisoner releases has permitted substantially more aid and relief into Gaza in the past 6 days. But deliveries of relief and help including water, food, fuel and medical supplies remain far below what is required, aid workers maintain.

Medecins Sans Frontieres international head Christos Christou said that Gazans need a sustained truce now and it is the only path to stop indiscriminate killings and allow for the delivery of desperately needed humanitarian help on a meaningful level. He told the media persons in Amman that they are already witnessing a humanitarian disaster of catastrophic proportions and it will get worse if the violent offensive restarts.

The Gaza Health Ministry said that over 15,000 Palestinian people have been killed in Israeli brutal attacks since October 7. The Health Ministry said that more than 6,150 children have also been killed in the war in Gaza. As per media reports, over 36,000 Palestinian people have been injured by Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip.
