ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior has formed a four-member Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on Tuesday to investigate “malicious social media campaign” targeting Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Aamer Farooq.

Inter-Services Intelligence, Intelligence Bureau, and Islamabad Capital Territory Police will each send one person to the JIT, which would be led by the Director Cyber Crime of the Federal Investigation Agency.

The notification said that the JIT would receive secretarial assistance from the FIA Headquarters and would give its findings to the ministry within a week.

Social media users have criticized Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Farooq for not following the Iman Khan case through to its natural conclusion after he suspended Imran Khan’s conviction in the Toshakhana case and ordered his release from Attock Jail.

PBC demands Probe into Social Media Campaign

Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Farooq, who suspended Imran Khan’s conviction in the Toshakhana case and ordered his release from Attock Jail, has come under attack on social media for delaying the decision into the case.

Moreover, the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has also voiced concerns over the negative social media campaign targeting the Islamabad High Court Chief Justice. The PBC has urged for a thorough investigation into the issue.
