ISLAMABAD: Jamat-e-Islami (JI) has rejected the idea of forming an alliance with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
JI’s Central Vice Amir Liaqat Baloch said that after consultation, his party has decided not to collaborate with PTI, given PTI’s coalition formation with another party at the federal level.
Baloch clarified that there is no rationale for forging an alliance with PTI solely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, indicating that discussions with PTI pertained to both federal and provincial governments.
On the contrary, PTI leader Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif dismissed the idea of forming an alliance with JI, citing JI’s absence of representation in the provincial assembly.
Saif mentioned that PTI has been engaging with JI solely on a provincial level, while the party focuses on understanding the legal procedures for government formation.
PTI’s leadership appears to have conflicting viewpoints on negotiations with other political entities to establish a government in Islamabad. While Imran Khan disregards any possibility of talks with other parties, party leader Ali Muhammad Khan advocates for negotiations.
Ali underscored the potential for a constructive relationship with other parties, stating that PTI is open to dialogue with all parties to address the country’s issues.
Highlighting the diverse political landscape, Ali mentioned that parties contesting against each other will eventually collaborate post-election.
The PTI politician emphasized the party’s position as the “largest political party” in Pakistan.
It is noteworthy that PTI had announced that it would ally with Majlis-e-Wahdat-Muslimeen (MWM) to form governments in the Centre and Punjab, following the directives of its founder.
