WASHINGTON: Actress Jennifer Lawrence, 34, expressed her support for democratic candidates Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in upcoming race in the U.S.
The actress made this announcement during a recent interview People magazine. Discussing her decision with the magazine, Lawrence emphasized that “abortion is on the ballot.” She commended the current Vice President for her advocacy of legislation aimed at safeguarding women rights across the U.S., similar to the protections established by Roe v. Wade before its reversal in 2022.
“I’m voting for Kamala Harris because I believe she’s an incredible candidate, and I trust that she will do everything in her power to protect women’s rights,” Lawrence stated. “It is crucial not to allow someone into the White House who will impose an abortion ban.”
Lawrence is not the first celebrity to back Harris and Walz. Following the presidential debate between Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump on September 10, pop star Taylor Swift also announced her support.
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she advocates for the rights and issues that need a strong champion. I see her as a steady, capable leader, and I believe we can achieve so much more in this country under calm leadership rather than chaos,” the “Fortnight” singer wrote on Instagram.
